As teachers we recognise that our students don’t all progress at the same rate. Those who are developing literacy in a language that they are still learning to speak are at an obvious disadvantage in the literacy classroom.

In this session we’ll be looking at how we can work effectively with these learners to help them get the foundations in place on which they can continue to build their literacy practices. We’ll be looking at the theoretical principles that underpin the practical strategies we can use with our learners, so that we can decide what will work best in different situations.
